Reload

I haven't been having the best weeks of my life. I have been stolen my bike, my projector bulb has broken and my computer graphic card is not working correctly. I have been requested to unlock my Windows XP copy which I haven't been able and I don't find the Windows CD to re-install it, fearing that I will have to format and loose everything I have been keeping on my computer...

As one of my next stories, I would like to make back-up, and start 2 weeks before knowing all of this... but I am thinking to make a back-up of feeling, and start thinking that now everything will go on positively. Fortunately, I have re-started doing adaptation for Limbo, still is in a slow pace but I know that is going on... I have to take it easy anyway, as I am involved in too many things and I am starting to feel unfulfilled with all of them. To avoid it, I am going to take it easy.

The problem is that lately it has come to mind that I should be doing things related to media, rather than being working where I am. I know is not a bad job (at all), but is really summerging me in monotony and is not giving me anything at all personally. I am in a search for a second job, as I am afraid to loose it all if I start doing crazy things; I want to find something related to film or media where they pay me something and at the same time I am training myselft into the profession.

Another of the problems in mind is the nostalgia. I am full of it lately. And I feel is because I really need a break and go to Spain for a while. I want to see my family, and my friends, I want to go to the streets of Madrid, for a walk with people I know, I want to see my cat, I want to be in a period of meditation in there as well... to then come back and start with a better mood, knowing that all that I am doing is good (which I already know... but is just empty strangely) and that all that is to come is going to be better.

I need to work out things for London too. Be more on earth and enjoy of earthly things. I will have to leave Pluto for a while.

21st London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival

Friday evening Irena, Peter and me went to the preview of the film festival which will take place between 21st of March to 4th of April. We were screened several previews of films that will be shown during the venue's date including feature films, short films and documentaries related to the homosexual world-view.

It was not an impressive preview but the seats were free and we were informed much better how do the films listed to be screened look like. I am now planning more or less which films I would like to see, among them El Cielo Dividido (Broken Sky, Mexico), No Regret (South Korea), Rag Tag (UK) the cycle of british gay short films, a Bollywood gay film and I will research what else (as there was as well an American comedy I would like to watch to cheer myself up).

I will post more information about the films whenever the dates are aproaching. And I will post as well some personal review an report about the festival.

BACK-UP: by the moment

A cybernetic plot is on its way. Maybe 5-10 min short... this ideas has been developing for the last weeks. I was sparked by Irena's idea to make a funny short about people having a conversation over mechanical chairs... quite weird I know, but as I was watching this last week Ghost in the Shell and Ghost in the Shell II: Innocence I really wanted to wake up a bit more all of those philosophical ideas I have been writing about in a module regardin the human identity.

As I might love to complicate it all, all the people that know now about the plot idea I had to be may think I went mad... but I am really supporting it. I think it could make a nice funny (as I am focusing in comedy, yes, I forgot to comment that with this short I am taking the oportunity to explore the comedy genre, the identity, and the science fiction to practice tricks with editing and mise-en-scene... moreover, I want to trick story twists by beholding information to the public as a filmmaker and create complexer texts thanks to the uses of beings that not necesarily need to be acting with the voice... I think is an intersting challenge)

Moreover, characters start to have a complex identity... as I am willing to make questions about social estereotypes with some of them... we'll see. The provitional title, Back-up, is regarding something that happens on the computers... you are able to save some information to some point in case you want to recover something you've lost but it might happen that some info you entered was not covered on that back up...

Anyway, I don't want to go much much further as I might loose focus on Limbo wich is going a bit slower than I thought as the adaptation is taking me long (I was plannning to have it ready by the end of february, and at this date I think it wont be earlier than mid-march). Moreover, I have to be carefull with Univ.

ciao darklings!

29.7: Finished production!!

Today, February 11th, at around 10 minutes to eleven, we, the team set for the 'Dird Production' short film 29.7 , finished filming what was a complicated shooting!!! after struggling with Mr. Weather everyday (including days of sun, snow, rain and all the mud we have got as reward). Thank god it seems all filmed in a very good quality.

From now on we will need to focus on post-production, regarding editing. We will have to start uploading the videos and, as we didn't do any logging while filming (but we did clapper, etc) we will have to organize everything. Good luck to the team!!!

LEARNING PHOTOGRAPHY I

I had my first lecture on photography at University. It was quite impressive, the lecturer made it quite interesting and It made me feel excited in learning this technique. However, I would say that as I see that this is a module made for students of Fine Arts I will stay on my filmic side and... will continue being dinamic. We have been recomended to go to some photography galleries, which I would enjoy going if I had the time, thus I will keep on my dinamism and rather than admirate those mirrored images of human orchestation I will prefer to orchestate something that perdurates in time and that recreates space as it does cinema. If a single picture might be complex analyzing about, imagine 24 images per second... that's how I feel and will continue pulling the mechanism of my actions.

We were introduced to the world of different photographers as Eugene Smith, Minor White, Brad Western, Anne Saddams, Frederic Heavens, Gene Smith, David Beiley, Paul Strand, Julian Margaret or Richard Avedon (the only one I knew about) between others.

Cinema and Photography I think should have some relation, but there should be taught this in a proper module fitted for Film Studies. I will try my best to combine the knowledge I'll be adquiring with my knowledge of filmmaking.

LIMBO: Adaptation

I am at the moment making the adaptation of Limbo. It is going to be hard work but I have all my hopes to make a great adaptation.

I hope this new blog works properly as I am trying to edit it properly to fit it on Chapuza's Website. I will be posting information in the following weeks regarding the productions and other kind of staff done in relation to cinema.

I am a bit dissapointed because David Lynch is coming to present his new film Inland Empire and I haven't been able to get any ticket for the event. It seems that a lot of people is interested in seeing this new film and discuss with him. Lynch is a cult director that always has something to discuss in his films, as they are always mixed with elements of surrealism but, more curiously is his characteristic non-linear way of filming, as he might have stated that his films just follow subconscious.

Waiting to see if there will be tickets available to see the film with the director, I have booked some seats for the Preview of the 21st London Gay & Lesbian Film Festival. There is not yet a programme for what it is going to be presented that day, but it might be fun and enjoyable. And it's free, so, we never loose any money at all by attending it.

We hope that next year maybe we can go to this festival presenting Limbo... but I might be spoiling the end with this. la la la...
